B3(d). There are basic steps of bacterial transcription. Within these steps there are molecular elements. Outline the parts of this process of transcription where positive or negative regulation can occur and briefly note how the regulation happens each of these parts.
There are majorly three steps in transcription that are initiation, elongation and termination transcription regulation occur mostly at initiation step. Positive regulation enhances the rate of transcription. The positive regulation deals with binding of transcription factors to the promoter region to increase its effinity to RNA polymerase. While the negative control reduces the rate of transcription. It deals with binding of repressor to the operator region and this binding inhibits the movement of RNA polymerase further to stop transcription.
At elongation and termination steps regulation deals with availability of elongation and termination factors, and energy, the more they available increase the rate and vise versa.
