Explanation -

Teratogens are toxic substances which are able to produce physical and functional defects on human fetus if the pregnant mother gets exposed to it. These include chemicals, drugs, radiation and maternal infections .

Effect of teratogen depends upon the time of exposure to teratogens ( developmental stage of fetus), degree of exposure to mother, placental transfer and systemic absorption by fetus.

Few of previous studies prove through evidences that early childhood development of male fetuses are more at risk when exposed to prenatal adversities like teratogens than female fetuses.
