Ans. The particles with particle size less than 0.1 micrometer would follow a random zigzag pattern of movement. It is guided by the availability of gases in the enviry which prompts these particle to move in such pattern. It is known as Brownian movement. For particles greater than 1.0 micrometer get setted and follows the stoke equation. Particle deposition is guided by multiple factors which are the particle size, the fluidation, settlement due to particle size and stokes equation, Brownian movement, lung morphology and aerobic capacity. Coarse particles get depositted in tracheobronchial area due to impaction, whereas fine particles are deposited in pulmonary area due to sedimentation and diffusion.
