. Which of the following variables would decrease the most with muscle disuse?

  1. Strength
  2. Velocity
  3. Power
  4. All of the above would decrease equally

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Continuous disuse. of any muscle due to injury, immobilization, bed rest, etc. leads to a significant loss of muscle mass and force production. The muscles become weak and may cause disability to the person. With the decrease in strength, there will be a significant decrease in the force and power of the muscle. The muscle velocity will also be affected because of the change in the lengthening and shortening of the muscle fibers due to disuse over a long time.

So, the correct option is - [d] All of the above would decrease equally
