Describe how fat digestion by pancreatic lipase was tested and detected
Pancreatic lipase is a digestive enzyme secreted by the pancreas
that pass into small intestine and is responsible for digestion of
fat and lipids.
test and detection of fat digestion by pancreatic lipase :
Take a test tube and add milk to it. Now add phenolphthalein to
it. The solution will turn pink as the solution is alkaline. When
we add pancreatic lipase to the solution, the colour changes from
pink to colourless. This is because the pancreatic lipase breaks
down the fat in milk into fatty acids which decreases the ph of
solution and makes it more acidic.
So the fat digestion by pancreatic lipase was tested and detected
by changing of colour. The solution turns colourless in presence of
pancreatic lipase.
