1. Even though the teres major and the teres minor muscles has their origins so close togather, they are antagonistic in action is because of their course and insertions. The teres major muascle has its insertion from the lower one third of the lateral border of the scapula and it gets inserted into the bicipital groove on the front side of the humerus. The teres minor has its insertion close to the region where the lattisimus dorsi inserts and hence both of them has a a similar function. In case of the teres minor muscle, the muscle has its origin just above the teres major muscle from the upper two thirds of the lateral border of scapula and the muscle wounds around the posterior part of the humeral head and then gets inserted into the lower portion of the greater tubercle of the humerus and thus it becomes a part of the rotator cuff muscles.
