A neuron is the structural and functional unit of nervous system. A neuron has three main components namely

  1. Cell body/ Cyton:- is the spherical structure that contains nucleus, cytoplasm and it receives transmission of impulses from neuron and send impulses to another neuron.
  2. Axon:- it is the threadlike part of the neuron that transmits the information from cyton to the axon terminals.
  3. Dendrites:- Dendrites are the protoplasmic projectionof nerve cell.
