It consists of nerves that connect CNS to other organs of the body.It is located outside the spinal cord and brain.

Structure:-
  • Consists of brain and spinal cord.
  • Consists of nerves such as peripheral, cranial and spinal nerves
  • Consists of interneurons .
  • Consists of sensory and motor nerves.
Function:-
  • Receives information from the PNS, processes the information by the brain and sends the processed information to the PNS.
  • Transmits sensory information to CNS and sends motor impulses to the effector organs such as muscles and glands.
