What vessel provides blood to the external and internal carotid arteries?
Common carotid artery(blood vessels) runs upwards and bifurcated into 2 branches named internal and external carotid artery at the upper border of thyroid cartilage. The two important structure at the bifurcation are carotid sinus and carotid body.
Internal carotid artery supplies the structure inside the skull, nose, scalp, and eye.
External carotid artery supplies the scalp, face, maxilla, tongue and glands etc.
The right common artery arises from brachiocephalic artery behind the sternoclavicular.
The left common Artery arises from the aortic arch.
Hence common carotid blood vessels provide blood to internal and external carotid arteries
