The differences between the two are as follows

  • Lipid-based hormones are lipid-soluble while peptide hormones are water-soluble
  • Lipid-based hormones can easily bypass the cell membrane while the same is not possible for a peptide hormone.

Research works have found that in patients with Adrenal Cushing's disease the HPA axis which hypothalamic - pituitary - adrenal axis is either partially or in some cases even completely are found to be resistant towards the feedback inhibition caused by dexamethasone. It is due to this that negative or false results are seen as an outcome,
