Homework Answers

Answer #1

Injury to the knee can be called as sprain of the ligaments and tendons of the knee, dislocation of joint of the knee, tearing of soft tissues and muscle fibers present in knee etc. Any kind of injury to the knee will cause improper movement of the knee and also pain in knee. The muscle group like quadriceps, hamstrings and muscles of the calf are associated with the knee joint and hence these muscles should be targeted for the rehabilitation process. The quadriceps muscle group contains muscles like rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medius and vastus intermedius. The hamstring muscle group contains muscles like semitendinosus, semimembranosus and biceps femoris. Gastrocnemius and the soleus are the muscle called as calf muscle.
