Glutathione is an antioxidant found in large amount in human body. In fact, it is inevitable in every organism on Earth and hence, can be called as 'master antioxidant'. Glutathione is the most abundant whereas ascorbic acid rewarded as most potent antioxidant found in blood plasma. G;utathione acts like other antioxidants which protects the cells from oxidative stress. In digestive system, it is found abundant in the mucosal cells of both animals and man. It is found highest in the deodenum. It neutralizes the ROS which is explained by having peroxisomes as example:

2GSH + H2O2 --> GSSG + 2 H2O
