Diabetic keto acidosis(DKA)-DKA is a life threatening problem happens due to the uncontrolled blood sugar level.

Why is the patient’s heart rate increased?

Hyperglycemia in DKA leads to increased osmotic diuresis result in severe fluid and electrolyte loss and dehydration.Thus as a compensatory mechanism, body will increase the heart rate to compensate the dehydration .

Why is there glucose in the urine?

Glycosuria is caused by the increased or uncontrolled blood sugar level which lead to decreased reabsorption of glucose in the kidney and thus presence of glucose in urine.

Outline a treatment?

Fluid replacement to treat dehydration and electrolyte loss

Electrolyte replacement such as sodium,potasium and chloride.

Insulin therapy to control the blood sugar level.
