Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that affect the ability to move and maintain balance and posture. The four main types of cerebral palsy are: Spastic, Athetoid, Ataxic and Mixed. It is caused by abnormal development or damage to the parts of the brain that control movement, balance, and posture. Most commonly, this damage or abnormal development occurs during pregnancy.
Spastic type of CP has increased muscle tone, limb deformities due to increased tone of muscles around joints, increased risk of hip dislocation. It can be classified as hemiplegic, diplegic or quadriplegic depending on limb involvement.
