Blood from the cavernous sinuses travels through two petrosal sinuses and the sigmoid sinus to drain into the _______________________________.
Ans- Internal juglar vein
Cavernous sinuses are dural venous sinuses in the skull. The internal carotid artery and the abducens nerve passes through the cavernous sinus. The blood is drained from the cavernous sinus by the two larger channels- the superior abd inferior petrosal sinuses which ultimately drains into the internal juglar vein via the sigmoid sinus. Sigmoid sinuses are also paired S shaped sinuses in the base of cranial fossa posteriorly. The left and right sigmoid sinuses drain blood into the internal juglar vein which exits at the juglar foramen.
