Compare the effect of haemoglobin on the partial pressure of oxygen in plasma and the oxygen carrying capacity of blood?
This relationship can be well explained with the help of oxygen dissociation curve. The curve clearly shows a positive relation between the two variables such as hemoglobin's affinity and partial pressure of oxygen. When partial pressure of oxygen increases, then hemoglobin is found to get more attracted towards oxygen leading to formation of oxyhemoglobin. This way oxygen is carried to all tissues. Similarly at points when partial pressure of oxygen is considerably low then hemoglobin is seen to detach from oxygen or can be said to have a lower affinity towards oxygen.
