What are the 2 main functions of the conventional dendritic cell in the immune response?
Dendritic cells are a type of
antigen presenting cells found in the immune system of
mammals.
Functions:
1. Processing and presentation of antigens on the cell surface to
T-cells
2. They also serve as messangers between the innate and adaptive
immune systems
They are generally located in the
skin, nose, lungs, intestine, and stomach. Once activated by the
exposure to an antigen, they migrate to lymph nodes and interact
with B and T cells to mediate the adaptive immune
response.
