The formation of urine
increases urine volume. The increased excretion of sodium and water
in form of urine can decrease blood volume and controls
hypertension.
The
resorption of bicarbonates and excretion of hydrogen ion from urine
helps in regulating acid base balance.
The
urine formation process maintains ionic regulation (sodium ions,
calcium ions, potassium ions) by filtering some electrolytes and
water from blood. Some ions are returned back to
circulation.
