Name the two types of bone marrow and indicate which type is responsible for the production of red blood cells.
Bone marrow is the spongy mass of tissue present inside some bones. Bone marrow is mostly found in thigh and hip bones. There are two types of bone marrow namely red marrow and yellow marrow. These marrow cells are the stem cells which can proliferate into different types of blood cells like red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Out of the two types of bone marrow, the red marrow also known as myeloid tissue can proliferate and gives rise to red blood cells.
