Hypothalamus is the part of brain that controls various
metabolic as well autonomic functions of the body.
Hypothalamus also controls the endocrine functions of the body
through release of various releasing hormones. These releasing
hormones acts on the pituitary gland which in turn secretes
hormones controlling activity of other endocrine glands.
The hormones released by hypothalamus includes thyrotropin
releasing hormone, somatostatin, growth hormone releasing hormone,
gonadotropin releasing hormone.
