What are short term regulatory mechanisms for blood pressure homeostasis?
During regulation occur in blood pressure the body takes some steps to regain the homeostasis of the body. Mainly the regulation is by renin angiotensin mechanism. But it take time to come in action. Also shift of fluid from capillaries to surrounding tissues are also another mechanism but it also take time to come in action.
Prior to this there is immediate actions taken by the body such as working of nervous system through baroreceptors.
While the blood pressure rise the arterial walls become streched and stimulation of baroreceptors in carotid sinus, aortic arch, and other large arteries of the neck and thorax. This will stimulate the brain to change peripheral resistance, heart rate etc.
If there is fall in blood pressure occur it inhibit the barorecptor and reduce impulses to brain. And it will lead to decrease parasympathetic activity and increase sympathetic activity.
