Isometric exercise is a type of exercise which does not include much movements, it includes mainly muscle contractions. These contractions helps to increase the muscle strength. Plank, yoga like chair pose are some of the example of isometric exercise.

Isometric exercise is an exercise which will increase heart rate and arterial pressure. Doing isometric exercise with 6 sets of 10 reps, in which each rep lasts 45 -90 sec will highly increase the blood pressure. Consider a person with high blood pressure or ant heart disease is doing isometric exercise including 6 sets of 10 reps, will further increase his blood pressure and can leads to death. So isometric exercise must be avoided by individuals suffering from heart disease or high blood pressure.
