List the 3 components of a negative feedback loop. Briefly describe 1 example of a negative feedback response in the human body to explain how a negative feedback loop works.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The three components of negative feedback loop are : Receptor/Sensor,Control centre and Effector.

In negative feedback loop, change is detected by the receptor and an effect opposite to the change detected is produced.

Example:

When the blood glucose levels are high, the receptors detect the change and the control centre ( pancreas in this case) secretes and releases insulin into the blood which lowers the blood glucose levels.

Similarly, when the blood glucose levels are low,Glucagon is released which increases the blood glucose levels.
