Tension reflex is a self induced reflex because it has
inhibitory effect on muscles resulting from muscle tension
stimulating golgi tendon organs of the muscle.
When tension is extreme the inhibition will be high and
it overcomes the excitory effects on the muscles alpha motoneurons
causing the muscle to suddenely relax.
Stimulus : A tension is applied to a tendon ,the golgi
tendon organ is stimulated and the nerve impulses arise and
propagate along sensory fiber to the spinal cord.
Receptor : The sensory receptor for tension reflex is
Tendon Golgi receptors, which lie within a tendon near its junction
witha a muscle.
Effector organ : The tension reflex has an inhibitory
effect on the muscle resulting from the muscle tension stimulating
Golgi tendon organs of the muscle.
