A few hours before ovulation, the primary oocyte undergoes a cell division process- (meiosis) Which result in an egg that contains 23 chromosomes. The follicle cells surrounding the oocyte secrete mucous, forming a circular barrier around the oocyte.

  • Ovulation is a part of menstrual cycle. It occurs when an egg is released from your ovary. When the egg is released, it may or may not be fertilized, the egg may travel to uterus and implant to develop into a pregnancy.
