Patent ductus arteriosus
It is a heart defect that causes opening between two blood vessels leading from heart.
The abnormal opening causes too much blood to circulate to the neonates heart and lungs .it may leads to increase in the blood pressure in the lungs that is pulmonary hypertension and the neonates heart enlarges and it becomes weak and may lead to fatal condition.

During the first breath there is increased oxygen in the lungs causes decreases in blood flow resistance to lungs.
Blood flow resistance of baby's blood vessels also increases.
