The thyroid gland is a type of duct less gland which is situated at the front part of neck just below the Adam's apple. It is usually an butterfly shaped gland surrounding the trachea.

Hormones and functions of thyroid gland

Triiodothyronine - This hormone is commonly called as T3. It binds to proteins and mainly regulate body temperature, metabolism, regulate heart rate and release growth hormone

Thyroxine : It is commonly referred to as T4 which is released into blood and has main role in digestion, function of muscles and maturation of bones.
