Answer #1

The Stance Phase of bipedal walking occurs while the foot is in contact with the substrate and supporting the body's weight.

Bipedal walking involves 2 main phases-

1.Stance Phase: in this phase ,the foot remains in contact with the substrate (ground ) supporting the body weight.it constitute 60 % of walking.

a.Initial Contact: In initial contact (Heel Strike), heel is the first bone to touch the ground.

b.Foot Flat: In this phase, weight is transferred to the referenced leg.

c.Mid Stance:here there is balancing of body weight on reference foot.

d.Terminal Stance:Here, heel of reference foot rises but toes are still in contact with ground.

e.Toe Off: Here, toe of reference foot rises and starts to swing in air, which is the beginning of the swing phase .

2.Swing Phase: In this phase, the reference foot is not in contact with the ground & swings in air.It constitute 40 % of walking.
