This preconditions were proposed by Ansley J Coale in the year 1973.He grouped the preconditions for a fertility transition.

Readiness is the result of the understanding of the advantages of not having a child.The conomic and social benefits are a driving force toeards readiness.

Willingness is the acceptability to control the fertility by themselves

Ability is the knowlegge and use of the techeniques of contraception
