why is there a higher level of thyroid hormone secreted in cases of pituitary tumors?

Answer #1

Thyroid hormones are thyroxine(T3) and Triiodothyronine(T4).

Synthesis of thyroid hormones is mainly stimulated by Thyroid stimulating hormones(TSH) produced from anterior lobe of pituitary gland.

**When there is a tumor in pituitary gland(TSH secreting pituitary adenoma), it will overproduce thyroid stimulating hormone.

Abnormally increased levels of TSH will cause increased synthesis of thyroid hormones.

Excess of thyroid hormones synthesis is called hyperthyroidism.

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is synthesized in the hypothalamus and transported to the anterior pituitary. How does GnRH reach the anterior pituitary? Group of answer choices It is transported directly to the anterior pituitary by axons of the hypothalamic-hypophyseal tract. it is transported by axons to the posterior pituitary and diffuses from there into the anterior pituitary. It is released into the blood and travels through the systemic circulation before reaching the anterior pituitary. It is secreted into the hypophyseal portal...

Vasopressin, a nonapeptide hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, functions by stimulating the kidney to retain water. Its sequence was determined by the following evidence: 1. Vasopressin is a cyclic compound containing a disulfide bridge between two cysteine residues. 2. When the disulfide bridge is reduced, vasopressin has the constitution Arg, Asn, Cys2, Gln, Gly, Ile, Phe, Pro. 3. Partial hydrolysis of vasopressin yields seven fragments: Asp-Cys, Ile-Glu, Cys-Phe, Arg-Gly, Phe-Ile-Glu, Glu-Asp-Cys, Cys-Pro-Arg. 4. Gly is the C-terminal group. 5....
