Explain the relationship between synaptic plasticity and learning/memory

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The intersecting point between two neuron is named as synapses, there can be many variation occured in the synapses, which is known as synaptic plasticity. One neuron communicate to another neuron through the synapses. The synaptic plasticity have the power to control the intensity in communication( between neurons). Based on the changes occured in the synapses, the brain will undergo some physical changes and this changes in the brain helps in learning. If there is a strong connection between two neurons( that is synaptic connection), then it helps the brain in learning. Synapses also helps the brain  in increasing the long term memory.

A researcher is interested in the relationship between concussions and short-term memory loss. To explore this relationship, the researcher collects data on the number of concussions and number of words recalled on a memory test. Assume SP = -34       SSconcussions =    58        SSnumber of words recalled = 27 Interpret the Pearson correlation coefficient between concussions and number of words recalled in terms of the strength and direction of the relationship:
