a. What is the spine position during cervical protraction and retraction?
b. What muscles are involved with a forward head posture? Which muscles may be shortened and lengthened? Would either of these muscles change effect force production in the stated muscles?
Ans a) The position of the spine during cervical protraction as well as retraction is both different from one another. During the cervical protraction, the upper spine is in extension position whereas the lower cervical spine is in flexion position. This means that the flexion position of lower spine means that the spine bending is in forward motion and the upper spine is the one which undergoes a backward bending motion. However, during the cervical retraction position, the upper cervical spines goes into flexion movement whereas the lower cervical spine goes into extension movement.
