If osteoblast activity is greater than osteoclast activity what is happening to the amount of bone tissue in the body? What is happening to the amount of calcium in blood?**

Answer #1

Answer

  • Osteoblast cells are the bone building cells. These cells takes up calcium from the blood and deposit into the bone tissue in order to increase bone mass.
  • Osteoclast cells are responsible for bone resorption (bone breakdown), These cells breaks down the bone and release bone calcium into the blood.

- If osteoblast activity is greater than osteoclast activity, there will be increase amount of bone tissue formation. The bone will get enlarged with abnormal outgrowths.
- New bone tissue formed due to overactivity will be much weaker.

- As osteoblasts deposite blood calcium into the bone, the calcium levels in the blood will be depleted.
- Due to slow osteoclasts activity, calcium homeostasis will not be maintained.

Explain what was happening during the “Fatigue Squeeze” activity in the motor neurons and muscle fibers when you first started, compared to the end, using terms from this chapter (muscle systems and tissue). Focus on the motor neuron – muscle fiber connection, not the biochemistry of fatigue. The fatigue squeeze activity was squeezing an item as hard as i can for as long as possible, noticing when fatigue started to set in.

Activity 6.6. (a) A positive integer that is greater than 11 and not prime is called composite. Write a technical definition for the concept of composite number with a similar level of detail as in the “more complete” definition of prime number. Note. A number is called prime if its only divisors are 1 and itself. This definition has some hidden parts: a more complete definition would be as follows. A number is called prime if it is an integer,...
