Answer #1

Recently, while walking, I stepped on a piece of nail the nail pierced inside my sole of leg due to which I experienced pain. I immediately removed my leg to prevent further injury to my leg. In this case the reflex action occurred when the nociceptors (pain receptors) present on my sole detected the pain stimulus due to which a nerve impulse was generated in the sensory neuron. The sensory neuron then entered the spinal cord from dorsal root and formed synapse with the relay neuron present in the grey mater of spinal cord. The relay neuron then formed synapse with the motor neuron which came out from spinal cord through ventral root. The motor neuron then caused effector muscle in the leg to contract and because of which the leg was removed from the pain stimulus.
