which of the following hormones would bind with a receptor inside the cell?

A. steroid
B. catecholamine
C. peptide

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer: steroid

There are generally two types of receptors are found in a cell. Some receptors are found embedded in the plasma membrane and are called as cell surface receptors. But some receptors are present in the cytoplasm of a cell and are called as intracellular receptors or cytoplasmic receptors. The glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, androgens, oestrogen and progestogens are the steroid hormones which binds with the intracellular receptors after crossing the plasma membrane of the cells.

But, the catecholamine and peptide hormones binds with the cell surface receptors as they can't cross the plasma membrane of the cells.

LIVER: Both insulin and glucagon are peptide hormones that target liver cells. The response of the target cells to each of these two hormones is opposite. This information implies that Group of answer choices the two hormones bind to different cell surface receptors. one hormone binds to a receptor on the cell membrane and the other to an intracellular receptor. each of the two hormones uses a different second messenger. both hormones interact with receptors at the cell nucleus. the...
