Describe how you would differentiate a concentric and eccentric contraction?

Describe how you would differentiate a concentric and eccentric contraction?

Answer #1

Concentric contraction is the shortening of muscle and eccentric contraction is the legthening of muscle.

In case of biceps muscle the concentric contraction occur during upward phase of excercise and it produce tension and shortens the biceps bronchii. It pull the forearm upward and cause flextion of the elbow.

Eccentric contraction in the biceps bronchii during the downward phase of excercise and it cause tension and lengthens the muscle. It show the lowering of the forearm and controls extension of elbow.

For the exercise below, write the type of contraction (isometric, concentric, eccentric) if any, in the space of the muscle group that is contracting. Place a dash in the space if there is no contraction occurring. (Hint: you may have more that once type of contraction in the same muscle group through varying portions of the exercise. If so, list them in the order of occurrence. Stand on one leg and move the other knee as directed: Exercise Quadriceps Hamstrings...
