overhead reach test can be used to check the functioning of the shoulder muscle.Overhead position in which the arm are raised above the head,it is done by the flexion of the of the shoulder.

Muscles helpin in the flexion of the arm are Anterior Deltoid, Pectoralis major and coracobrachialis.

So if a person cannot lift his arm over the head is indicating weakness of the deltoid muscle.Hence this test can be used to test the functioning of the deltoid muscle
