Describe the LeFort I, II, and III facial fractures?
Le fort fracture l: It is the horizontal maxillary fracture, separating teeth from the upper face. Fracture line passes through alveolar ridge, lateral nose and inferior wall of maxillary sinus. It is a floating palate.
Le fort fracture ll: Pyramidal fracture, with teeth at the pyramidal base, and nasofrontal suture at its apex. Fracture arch passes through the posterior alveolar ridge, lateral walls of maxillary sinuses, inferior orbital rimb and nasal bones. Uppermost fracture line passes through the nasofrontal junction or the frontal process of the maxilla. It is a floating maxilla.
Le fort fracture III:It is a floating face ( transverse) with craniofacial disjunction, because of the involvement of the zygomatic arch and a risk of temporal is muscle impingement.
