Posterior is towards the back of the body i.e, dorsal aspect of the body.

•Anatomical position: When a person is standing straight with eyes looking forwards,both arms by the side of the body,palms facing forwards,both feet together,the position is anatomical position.

•Planes:

*Plane passing through the centre of the body dividing it into equal right and left halves, is median or midsagittal plain.

*Plane parallel to midsagittal plain is the sagittal plain.

* A plane at right angles to the sagittal plain is called Coronal plain.It divides the body into anterior and posterior halves.

*Posterior half is the dorsal aspect i.e,back of the body.

Terms used in:

*Trunk:- Dorsal or Posterior is the back of the trunk.

*Upper limb:-Dorsal or Posterior is the back aspect.

*Lower limb:- Posterior aspect is the back of lower limb.
