2. Describe the flow of blood as it enters the right atrium going to the left atrium. Which circuit/circulation has it travelled?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

This is called pulmonary circulation in which blood from right atrium enters the lungs through pulmonary artery. Blood enters the pulmonary arteries by the opening of pulmonary valve. Pulmonary arteries are further branched into tiny capillaries which carries the blood across the alveoli of the lungs where oxygenation of blood occurs. After oxygenation blood leaves the lungs through pulmonary vein and enters the left atrium. From left atrium blood goes to left ventricle by the opening of mitral valve. From left ventricle the blood is pumped through out the body via aorta.
