Anatomical structure of spinal cord :
The spinal cord has a function of transmission of signals from peripheral nervous system to brain via spinal cord.
Gray matter : Gray matter constitutes internal core of spinal cord. During fetal development it is formed from the ectoderm and it is unmyelinated, consisting of interneurons. Gray matter has involved in muscle control, sensory response, hearing, memory, seeing and speech.
White matter : It is made of myelin which is a fatty substance and situated around the gray matter in spinal cord. White matter acts as relay jusnction and also controls the distribution of action potentials.
