Homework Answers

Answer #1

a) The progesterone level rises post ovulation (from day 15 to day 22) because of the production of progesterone by the corpus luteum(which is the remenants of the follicle after the ovum has released). The phase is called the luteal phase

b)The uterus in response to the increased level of progesterone gets ready for the implantation. This causes the thickening of the lining of the endometrium, the vascularisation increases and there will be inhibition of the contractions of the utreus so as to protect the embryo to be implanted from being expelled.
