  1. If the body produces excess ADH, what impact would this have on ECF volume and concentrations?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

ECF means extracellular fluid which are found outside the body cells and contains substances like glucose, carbon dioxide etc. ADH is anti diuretic hormone, which is secreted by the posterior pituitary gland and helps in resorption of water from the tubules of kidney.

Hence on excess ADH secretion, more water will be absorbed in the kidney and the absorbed water will be added to the extracellular fluid. Hence on addition of water to it, the volume of extracellular fluid increases while the concentration of extracellular fluid decreases.
