Describe the processes that occur for the immediate energy system

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The body utilizes various energy shstems to produce energy required for muscle contraction.
ATP-PC pathway is thd immediate energy system.
ATP PC causes breakdown of creatinine phosphate stored in muscles to generate ATP.
When the carbohydrate reserve in the body depletes the body switches to ATP PC for immediate energy.
Steps for immediate energy system:

1. The ATP stored in myosin cross bridge is broken down to adenosine diphosphate and phosphate.
2. The creatinine kinase breaks down the phospho creatinine stored in body into creatinine and phosphate (Pi)

3. The energy released during breakdown of phosphocreatinine is used to combine the adenosine diphosphate with Pi resulting in ATP formation.
4. This ATP is utilized by muscle cells to contract.

Describe the energy transfers that occur as a cart inelastically collides with an object of equal mass at rest. This should be a narrative description of the energy transfers that occur as the cart inelastically collides with a cart of equal mass. In your descriptions, address the following: What was the kinetic energy of each cart before and after the collision? What happens to the total energy of the system, now including both carts, as a result of the inelastic...

Describe the “energy story” for the situation below. Be sure to specify the system while including all the relevant energy transfers to/from the system, and transformations within the system. You should also
indicate whether you think the the process described in the situation is reversible or not (as described in lecture, a qualitative way to determine whether a process is reversible would be to watch a recording of that process played backwards, and conclude whether that would normally occur in...
