Antagonistic effect- when one substance decreases or abolishes the action of another, they are said to be antagonistic. Example of drug antagonism- Atropine is antagonist to acetylcholine and it reduces the effect of acetylcholine by binding at the same site where Acetylcholine binds.
Cooperative effect- when action of one substance is facilitated or increased by the other,they are said to be synergistic/cooperative effect. Example to this is aspirin and paracetamol. Both have cooperative effect on one another and works as analgesic/antipyretic.
