The biggest complication of DVT occurs when these clots are dislodged and travel to other areas of the body. Where would you expect these moving clots to go?    This moving clots will go up body via inferior vina cava and this can finally lodge in blood vessels of lungs which are coming from the heart. It is the most common location where the broken clots formed in the leg by deep vein thrombosis that can lodge. So this clots makes obstruction in the blood vessels called pulmonary embolism. This condition will be manifested as shortness of breath and chest pain. Other than lungs, DVT can also form clots in kidney, brain, arms, liver and intestines, by adversely affecting their blood flow which can result in respective embolism or partial obstruction according to the clot size.
