The main purpose of the loop of capillaries in glomerulus is to enhance the glomerular filtration. Glomerulus is composed of many capillary loops which has small fenestration on their capillary walls. Due to hydrostatic pressure, the blood will get filtered and the filtrate will be collected by the bowman’s capsule. If there was only few capillaries which are not arranged in loops, there will be lesser surface area for filtration with fewer fenestrations and will significantly decrease the glomerular filtration rate of kidney. As our capillaries in glomerulus are arranged in loops, that will increase the surface area for filtration and more blood will get filtered.
