Answer #1

Fasciculin is a neurotoxin that was first discovered in mamba venoms. It is an inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase. This toxin causes Flaccid paralysis of skeletal muscle.

Answer - Flaccid paralysis

Flaccid paralysis mainly caused by neurotoxins that damaged the brain or spinal cord and they also block the impulse transmission between brain and muscle.

Flaccid paralysis caused by tetanus toxin (tetanospasmin), main by the infection of Clostridium tetani. which resulted in respiratory muscle spasm and decreases alveolar ventilation.

Certain types of snake venom contain α-bungarotoxin, which is a competitive antagonist for nAChR. What happens to the response of the postsynaptic skeletal muscle cell when the venom is present? What would this cause to happen to a person bitten by the snake? What other toxin discussed in the textbook would cause a similar result to the patient by altering the release of ACh rather than interacting with the nAChR itself?
