Which of the following best describes the absorption of glucose on the apical membrane of epithelial intestinal cells?

A. SGLT

B. GLUT2

C. GLUT5

D. facilitated diffusion

E. simple diffusion

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Best Answer : B . GLUT2.

Explanation : Absorption  of glucose on the apical membrane of epithelial intestinal cells By the glucose cotransporter GLUT2.Actually Glucose is taken up into the intestinal epithelial cells across the apical membrane against its concentration gradient by the Na-glucose co-transporter(SGLUT1) after that it is then transported across the basolateral membrane to the interstitial fluid down its concentration gradient ( From higher concentration to lower concentration) by the glucose transporter GLUT2 and finally absorbed.....Thanks dear student

Lipids (select the BEST CORRECT statement) Dihydrotestosterone is a chemical derivative of cholesterol. The more saturated a fatty acid is, the more likely it is to be solid at room temperature. Both glycerol and monoglycerides can freely diffuse across the apical membrane of intestinal epithelial cells. In triglyceride molecules, the fatty acids are linked to glycerol by covalent bonds.
