Beta waves- normal waking state of consciousness, attention directed towards cognitive tasks. Beta waves represent fast activity, when the person is alert, attentive, engaged in some problem-solving thoughts or decision making, or focused mental activity.

Delta waves- Slow, loud brain waves. They are generated in deepest meditation and dreamless sleep.

Theta waves- occur in sleep and deep meditation.

Alpha waves- represent silently flowing thoughts.
